Ingredients
Scale
- ½ cup (120 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 4 oz (115 g) white chocolate, chopped (or white chocolate chips)
- ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon (6 g) matcha powder (culinary grade)
- ¾ cup (95 g) all-purpose flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Optional: ¼ cup (40 g) white chocolate chips or chopped nuts for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease an 8″x8″ baking dish or line it with parchment paper to make removal easier. - Melt the Butter and Chocolate:
In a heatproof bowl, combine the melted butter and white chocolate. Heat in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is smooth and combined. Let it cool slightly. - Mix the Wet Ingredients:
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Gradually stir in the cooled butter and chocolate mixture until fully combined. - Add the Dry Ingredients:
Sift the matcha powder, flour, and salt into the wet mixture. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the batter, being careful not to overmix. If desired, fold in white chocolate chips or nuts for added texture. - Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. - Cool and Serve:
Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting them into 16 squares. Dust with extra matcha powder for a decorative touch if desired.
Notes
- Matcha Quality: Use culinary-grade matcha for baking—it balances flavor and cost. Avoid overusing matcha, as too much can make the brownies bitter.
- Storage: Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- Freezing: Wrap individual brownies in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
